Gertrude
Appearance
Gertrude is a lovely doll with long, red yarn as hair and light skin. At the beginning of the events of Jewel's Magic, she had no eyes and appeared to be just a regular doll. When two gems, a sapphire and an emerald, were returned to her eye sockets, she grew to the size of a young girl and became sentient and could speak. [1]

History
Gertrude is a Doll Princess and the key to the Rolandotter Vault. A long time ago, she was stolen by treasure hunters who took the jewels out of her eyes, causing her to become a lifeless doll. The legendary horse, Jewel, eventually found her and gave her to the Anders family for safekeeping. [1]
Relationships
Shine Anders
Shine was Gertrude's owner while she was a lifeless doll. She later helped return Gertrude to her family and restored her eyes.[1] The two remain close friends and go on adventures together.[2][3]
