Underhill
Appearance
The Underhill is a secret fairy glade located in the depths of the Emerildian Wilds that houses the royal Fairy Court.[1] Seven trees with fairy doors house each member of the court and each member's throne is a colored toadstool in the glade's center.
Story
During Emma Roland's quest to find the lost Herd Moonfairy, she and her friends seek out the Underhill so they can ask the Fairy Court to let them see Princess Avalynn, keeper of the Moonstone. The door to the Underhill is protected by powerful fairy magic, but Deru manages to convince the Dryad of the tree to show them the secret knock to open the door.[2] Inside the Underhill, all members of the Fairy Court are summoned by Emma and friends using the secret knock on each of their doors. The court makes Emma and friends answer seven riddles to prove themselves worthy; for each wrong answer, an entire day passes by.[3] Once all riddles are answered, the group is allowed to see Avalynn who gives them the Moonstone after they help her save her lover Johan Bloom from Ivenna.[4]
