Johan Bloom

Appearance
Johan is a young man with brown, wavy, shoulder-length hair, a small mustache and beard on his chin, and dark brown eyes. His skin is lightly tanned from his work in the sun.
He wears a straw hat decorated with a ribbon and a feather, a blue shirt rolled up at the sleeves, a brown vest with gold trim, a blue band on his wrist and knee-length light purple pants. He carries a brown messenger bag over his shoulder and often holds a large walking stick covered in greenery.
In "Moonfairies" for his marriage to Princess Avalynn, he wears a Renaissance-like suit with a white ruffled shire, purple vest, pink cape, pink hat with a yellow feather, ballooning shorts in pink and white stripes, white tights, and long purple boots with golden buckles.[1]
History
Johan is a farmer and one of the "Old Sunflower Folk", a group of humans who had long been in friendship with Herd Sunflower. [2]
Johan's relationship with the herd's founder, Sunflower, made him the keeper of the Sunstone: Sunflower's magical herd pendant. In order to keep the Sunstone safe from the likes of Ivenna, Johan separated the Sunstone into five pieces and worked with the Herd Patrons (Fiona, Jewel, Thunder, and Nike) to transform the pieces into flowers that would only return to normal once picked. Through the Sunstone's magic, Johan had been kept alive for thousands of years while he waited for Sigga's heir, Emma Roland, to return to North of North and reunite the Lost Herds. [4]

Johan's steed and loyal friend is Cayenne.
Emma Roland, Deru, and Colm Roland
Johan waited for thousands of years for Emma to come to North of North and reunite the Lost Herds. When Ivenna kidnapped the Starstone Otter, Emma, Colm, and Deru traveled to the Pool of Reflection in search of clues on how to find Herd Sunflower before Ivenna did. Johan meet the three there and assisted them in their travels across North of North to find the pieces of the Sunstone.
Princess Avalynn
Johan's love is the Princess Avalynn. Throughout Emma's quest to find Herd Sunflower, Johan thinks of Avalynn often. When the party traveled through the Emerildian Wilds, the fairy folk cast a sleep spell on the trespassers while they travel through their home. However, Emma recalls seeing a woman trapped in an amber stone. Johan, immediately knowing the person to be Avalynn, threatens to break back into the fairies' home and save her. Emma manages to reason with him and promises Johan that once Herd Sunflower is found, she'll help him free Princess Avalynn.
When Emma gave the Sunstone back to Sunflower, Johan was no longer immortal and began to age dramatically. Luckily, Avalynn had awoken from her enchanted slumber and healed him. Once Herd Moonfairy was returned from hiding, Johan and Avalynn finally got married after a thousand years of separation. Emma was the maid of honor, Colm the best man, and Deru the flower girl. [4]
