Appearance
Dowager is a shiny coal-black mare with dark eyes and a long, wavy mane and tail.
Personality
Dowager is inclined to see the brighter side of things, and loves the orchid flowers that she attends to.
Magical Gift
Dowager was Sigga's best brood mare. She went to earth to with Sigga, as Sigga was allowed to pick one steed to take with her. She chose Dowager knowing that one day she would be the mother of the next Valkyrie's steed. Dowager then looked after Emma, using magic to become a regular horse.[1]
Dowager originally died on Earth after giving birth to Wings.[2] After she passed, she was transported to North of North. Wings and Soot were overjoyed to find their mother alive and well during their quest for Herd Sunflower.[3] It is revealed that on her return, she, Deru, and Twig were old friends. Jewel also made her guardian of the Rolanddotter Orchid Garden when she returned.[4][5]

The word "dowager" means "a widow with a title or property from her late husband" or "a dignified elderly woman."[6]
