The Name Game

"The tribe this steed is based on is located in Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico, United States. They are a sub-division of the Pueblo people. The name comes from the Spanish word for “little Island". After the Pueblo Revolt of 1680, the Isleta Pueblos fled west to Arizona and were welcomed by the Hopi. After the revolt was put down, they returned, many with Hopi spouses. During the 19th Century, the Laguna and Acoma Pueblo joined the nation. Today, agriculture, land leasing, pottery and jewelry provide income, as well as a gaming casino and resort."[2]
