The Name Game

"The tribe this steed is based on is located in Northern New Mexico. A sub-division of the Apache people. The name comes from Mexican Spanish and means “Little Basket.” The Jicarilla divided into two bands: the Llaneros, or plains people, and the Olleros, or mountain-valley people. The Jicarilla were hunter/gatherers and moved from place to place with the seasons. They are renowned basket makers, and have earned wide acclaim for the beauty and craftsmanship with beadwork and pottery."[2]

Promo Info

"Native Lights"

Young Rider magazine advertisement

In North America, Jicarilla is a "Native Lights" Promo Card. His card is included in an unknown 2008 issue of the Young Rider magazine as part of a "Magical Friends" advertisement. The web address, BellaSara.com/YoungRider, brought users to a special welcome page.

Jicarilla's card could later have been bought on the Bella Sara Online Store for $5.00.[3]

A collector has also reported receiving a copy of Jicarilla's card in a Nintendo magazine, presumable Nintendo power. However, no sourcing of this claim yet exists. [4]
