Appearance

The Rolands Hold Arena is a large arena for various equestrian contests. The entrance is barred by large golden gates with large status of Bella and Bello on either side. It is shaped like a large horseshoe, with three stories of seating for those watching the events. On its roof, there are many large yellow triangular flags, and a large statue of Nike.

The arena has room enough for thousands of occupants, and equestrian events are held there annually, as well as plays and concerts.[1] In Nike's Great Race, Marta Thomas competes here with Nike in the Trials of Avensgaard.[2][3]

History

Rolands Hold Arena, called simply 'the Hold' by locals, is a magnificent horseshoe-shaped coliseum originally built by Sigga to host major equestrian events. Since then it has also been used for all manner of games and competitions, theatrical presentations, and concerts.[4]

From the beginning Sigga wanted a dedicated home that would support all manner of games and competitions, to hold official equestrian events as well as theatrical presentations and orchestra concerts. No one in North of North had ever seen such a place of grand beauty and opulence. The construction was no easy task and took a generation to build, hundreds of artisans and craftsman toiled year after year to create Sigga’s dream. Finally the Hold was complete, a magnificent horse-shoe shaped coliseum with wide open balconies and hallways that could easily contain thousands of participants and fans.[5]
