Appearance
Huron is a brown mare with black lower legs and a gray muzzle. She has a black mane and tail and wears a white feathered tie in her hair. She also wears a traditionally decorated saddle with a purple saddle blanket with yellow designs and brown strips as a trim, a fur blanket, a blue and yellow flower on a shield-like circular design decorated with white feathers, as well as a blue blanket decorated in black designs.[1]

The Name Game
"The tribe this steed is based on is located around the Lake Simcoe region of Ontario, Canada. They are also known as the Wyandot, which means “Islanders.”
Huron is a French word that may have come from here, which means “head of a wild boar.”
They are culturally connected to the Iroquois, and they built longhouses. They hunted beaver and traded with the French once the fur trade began in North America. Conflict with the Iroquois caused them to flee their homeland. One band went northwest and settled in Quebec, where they live today. Another band went westward, settling in Ohio, then Wisconsin, and finally Kansas. Eventually, they were forced out of Kansas and resettled in Oklahoma. Today the Wyandots have their tribal headquarters in Wyandotte, Oklahoma."[4]
