Emma and The Magical Carousel
Emma and The Magical Carousel is a short movie included in the Hidden City Games Spring Carnival Collector Tin and details the events of "Spring Carnival" as told by Penny Inkwell, the Canter Hollow Storyteller.
Plot
The story opens with Emma Roland, Colm Roland, and Deru watching rain pour down upon Canter Hollow. Emma notices that Deru is lacking her usual pep, and the Dryad explains that she gets all her energy from the Growdust that comes on the first day of Spring. To help cheer Deru up, Emma brings everyone down to the stables to help dress up the various parade horses for the Spring Carnival. [1]
Colm discovers a magical carousel with Carousel Horses modeled after the herd founders and legendary horses. Cade Traveler, the stable master, tells Colm, Emma, and Deru that he had been working on repairing it, but nothing he had done would make the carousel work. On top of the carousel not working, the horse modeled after Bella was missing.
The following night, Ivenna uses her sorceress magic to anger the Storm Giants and send a torrential downpour upon Canter Hollow in hopes of cancelling the Spring Carnival and bringing eternal winter to North of North.
The next morning, a flood threatens to overflow the canals along Canter Hollow. Emma and Colm fly on their steeds, Wings and Soot, to Lake Riddlemere in hopes of slowing the water. When Colm's Valeryk Husky, Frostbite, freezes a small chunk of ice with its magic, Emma gets the idea to call Iceking, a frosty winged unicorn she had helped decorate the day before. The stallion appears and uses his magic to freeze the entire lake.
With the water frozen in place, Colm and Emma discover the Bella carousel horse at the base of the falls and return it to Cade back at the stables. Since the storm is still too dangerous for an outdoor carnival, Emma and Colm spend the rest of the day helping Cade set up the Spring Carnival inside the Canter Hollow stables instead.
The next day, Carousel Bella is placed back on the carousel and guests arrive for the Spring Carnival. The Magical Carousel is unable to function until Harmony and her Magical Friends band begin to play their music. Fueled by the sound, the Magical Carousel lights up and begins to spin. Colm and Emma help children onto the carousel and Sara, the goddess of horses, appears on Carousel Bella and leads the carousel horses off of the carousel and outside.
The storm magically subsides as Sara leads the parade across Canter Hollow. Finally, the sun begins to shine and the Growdust falls upon the town. Deru and her steed, Twig, are rejuvenated by the magical pollen and the rest of North of North springs back to life from a long winter. The story ends with Emma, Colm, Deru, Sara, and the rest of Canter Hollow enjoying the rest of Spring Carnival outside.
