Appearance
Airistos was an icy blue pegasus stallion[1] with feathered hooves and a braided dark blue mane and tail. His large wings faded from light blue to white to dark blue. [2]
The Carousel Horse modeled after him wears a purple halter, breastplate, wing ornaments, and hip strap.
Personality
Airistos was a contemplative horse who could always rise out of his negative emotions. No matter how sad Airistos may have felt from time to time, he knew that those feelings would always pass.[3] With these values of always flying higher towards positivity in mind, Airistos founded Herd Airistos.
Magical Gift
Airistos can fly, and his hooves leave trails of sparkling white and light blue magic.
History
Airistos was one of the 10 first-born foals of Herd Bellasara. Sara asked the young Airistos if he would like to become a leader of his own herd; when Airistos agreed, he was immediately aged into an adult and gifted the wisdom and maturity to be a great leader. Sara helped him find a mate, and with Sara's blessing, Airistos and his new mate traveled to the Overgaard Skylands and established Herd Airistos.[4]
When Sigga and the The Valkyries formed, Sara gave Airistos a magical pendant that allowed him to communicate with Sigga and other herd leaders across North of North.
When Sigga left North of North, Feral and the Wolf Riders attacked Rolandsgaard Castle, and Airistos tragically lost his life defending the castle. With Airistos's death, Herd Airistos's magical pendant also disappeared.[5]
Relationships
Bella and the Herd Founders
Airistos was a colt in Bella's original herd before he was blessed by Sara alongside Sunflower, Shahazar, Valeryk, Islandar, Moonfairy, Starlight, Pantheon, Elemyn, and Mustang.
Unnamed Mate
In The Bella Sara Ultimate Guide, Sara helps each of the Herd Founders find a mate before setting off to establish their own herds. The name of Airistos's mate is unknown, but it is implied that they had many children who would populate Herd Airistos and beyond.
The Name Game
Airistos may be a play on the word "Air" and the Greek prefix, "Aristo", which means "Best".[6]
