Herd Elemyn was founded by Elemyn to honor the virtue of harmony. The horses of this herd are made of various elements such as fire, ice, water, stone, and light. Deru states that the herd is "one of the most magical herds in North of North"[1]. [2]
Location
The herd resides in the land of Esotara, a magical realm floating beneath North of North.[3] In The Bella Sara Ultimate Guide, the herd's home is said to be Elemyn Castle which floats on a moat of pure light in the center of Esotara. However, "Herds from North of North" depicts the Ice Castle as the herd's home. The Ice Castle only appears to outsiders during Midwinter's Eve on the shores of Lake Riddlemere. [4] It is possible that Ice Castle and Elemyn Castle are the same and, like Wildscape Castle, move from one area to the next.
Fairies
The horses of Herd Elemyn value working together, and one of their favorite creatures to work with are the festival fairies. Every Midwinter's Eve, Herd Elemyn and the festival fairies enjoy a great feast before decorating Trail's End with magical ornaments. [5] "Winter Festival" cards often depict horses with a fairy companion; two of these fairies, Airy and Crimson, are even honorary members of the herd.
History
For many years, Herd Elemyn and the festival fairies decorated Trail's End with magical ornaments every Midwinter's Eve. [6]. However, when the Valkyrie leader, Sigga, was banished from North of North, the enchantress Ivenna locked the Ice Castle and its ornaments inside. For many years, the fairies tried to open the castle door, but it wasn't until Bumbit and Hugkiss sought Emma's help could they break the spell and reunite the horses with their castle. [7]
